Programs & Services

Our Programs

The core residential treatment services at Southern Peaks include gender specific programming for youth with behavioral and mental health disorders, separate programs for males and females with histories of sexual misconduct, and The Haven at Southern Peaks, our exclusive residential treatment program for young females who have been sexually exploited.

For youth in any of these core residential programs, additional specialized and supplemental services are available to augment the child’s treatment experience. Our culturally-based Medicine Bear program for Native American youth, substance abuse treatment services, and educational services through our Phoenix Academy at Southern Peaks are a few examples of our feature supplemental services. For information on these services and more, please visit our Additional Services Page.

Our Approach

Our approach to care and treatment at Southern Peaks is comprehensive and holistic. We use a multidisciplinary team approach to each adolescent’s individualized treatment experience. Assessment, treatment planning, and intervention strategies are developed, modified, and carried out through active participation of the youth, his or her family, the placing agency, and members of our clinical team, including the child’s therapist, a registered nurse, a treatment supervisor, and an education specialist, all under the direction of our attending psychiatrist.

We understand the unique developmental needs of adolescents and their struggles to form their own identity and sense of self. We provide them with an array of high quality services in a safe, culturally competent, and gender appropriate environment. And we implement treatment strategies which foster personal growth, enhance life skills, and increase competencies necessary for individuals to become responsible and productive members of society.

Our medical, educational, and clinical teams ensure a healthy and therapeutic residential treatment experience through an array of services, including:

  • Screenings and Assessments
  • Coordination of Psychological or Psychiatric Evaluations
  • Medical Care, with an On-site Clinic
  • Case Management & Treatment Planning
  • Transitional and Aftercare Planning
  • Individual, Group, and Family Therapy
  • Skill Building
  • Experiential, Recreational, and Therapeutic Activities
  • Educational Services through The Phoenix Academy at Southern Peaks
