The Haven Program

The Haven Program for victims of human trafficking

The Haven Program

The Haven at Southern Peaks is a trauma-focused recovery program for young victims of sexual exploitation. Haven offers an exceptional blend of a safe house for victims of child sex trafficking along with the comprehensive therapeutic services of a residential treatment center for youth with mental and behavioral disorders.

With an emphasis on cognitive, experiential, and trauma-focused therapies, Haven provides a safe, nurturing environment where adolescents who have been involved in sex trafficking can experience physical, emotional, and social healing.

Our clinical, medical, and educational teams work collaboratively to ensure a holistic restoration experience through an array of program services.

Haven utilizes nationally renowned experts on the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children for consultation, collaboration, and specialized trainings for our staff. Our clinical team utilizes Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as the framework for each girl’s individualized treatment and care plan.

All youth in the Haven program participate in an intensive group curriculum to include drug and alcohol, anger management, life skills, family counseling and preservation, and social skills development. Our Master’s level clinicians strive to help the girls understand what trauma is while exploring functional and dysfunctional beliefs. The girls learn to control the effects of their trauma and learn to build protective factors, and in the process become aware of victim-trauma cycles including Stockholm Syndrome. Group sessions emphasize the skill building components of Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotional Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness.

Girls support one another in survivors groups by exploring unhealthy relationships and power/control issues, while mastering relaxation techniques, developing social skills, and establishing healthy living habits. And our caring and dedicated staff provide additional support 24 hours a day to ensure a healthy and therapeutic restoration experience.
